\nI’m excited to share my first project for CrafTangles. <\/div>\n
\nToday, I’ve created a Vintage Mixed Media Canvas- “Create”.<\/b><\/div>\n
\nI wanted to achieve an old, antique look with a rusty, patina finish<\/b>. For this, I’ve used mixed media products by CrafTangles including their Patina Effect Texture Pastes, Moss Effect Texture Pastes, Art Wax, Texture Paste, Gesso & Acrylic Soft Gel<\/b> and other products from Hndmd<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Process:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

1. Took a canvas board as the base and applied <\/span>CrafTangles Clear Gesso<\/b> to it. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n2. Applied CrafTangles White Texture Paste <\/b>through a Damask Stencil onto the background.<\/div>\n
\n
\n3. To colour the background, used distress paints, inks and waxes <\/div>\n
\n4. Next, prepared elements for the focal cluster. Starting with chipboards. Colored the large swirly chipboard with CrafTangles Moss Effect Texture Paste- Brown<\/b>. This gives a wonderfully textured look. Very similar to brown rust. Then to add some rusty details to it, rubbed on CrafTangles Patina Effect Texture Paste- Metallic<\/b> and CrafTangles Art Wax- Turquoise<\/b> onto the textures. This gave a rusty finish to the large chipboard. Next colored the ornate frame blue with CrafTangles Patina Effect Paste- Light Blue<\/b> and distressed the edges of the frame with Vintage Photo Distress Ink<\/b>. <\/div>\n
\n5. Coloured some cheese cloth by spraying it with water and applying CrafTangles Patina Effect Paste- Metallic<\/b> to it. This gives an orangish-red rusty look. <\/div>\n
\n6. Created die cuts using CrafTangles Dual Textured White Cardstock<\/b>. Then coloured them using CrafTangles Patina Effect Pastes<\/b>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\n7. Fussy cut some elements from CrafTangles Vintage Rosette 4 Elements Pack <\/b>along with some more vintage clocks from my stash. Distressed their edges with ink and a paper distresser.<\/div>\n
\n8. I chose a Tim Holtz Baseboard Doll<\/b> as my focal element. Now all the prepared elements were layered onto the canvas to create a visually pleasing composition and then adhered using a strong glue and CrafTangles Acrylic Soft Gel<\/b>. I added pieces of chipboard in between the layers to give dimension and also added sisal behind some of the layers to create more interest. I also wrapped Jute Twine around the canvas to add visual interest and texture.<\/div>\n
\n9. Now the finishing touches, I added a couple of metal embellishments by Mitform Castings, a clock charm and a couple of Tim Holtz clipping stickers<\/b>. Then, adhered glass glitter and art stones to some places around the focal cluster using CrafTangles Acrylic Soft Gel<\/b>. Then dry brushed some of the embellishments with Heavy White Gesso<\/b>, created splashes using watered down Vintage Photo Distress Ink, White Gesso & Light Blue Patina Paste<\/b>. <\/div>\n
