{"id":468,"date":"2017-08-23T03:30:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/articles\/diwali-cards-with-foi\/"},"modified":"2020-08-26T12:17:20","modified_gmt":"2020-08-26T06:47:20","slug":"diwali-cards-with-foil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/diwali-cards-with-foil\/","title":{"rendered":"Diwali cards with foil."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nHello!<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI have been addicted to foiling ever since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/foils\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Craftangles has released their brilliant foils!<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nHere are some Diwali cards and tags that I have made using these foils.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nTo make the shaker tag below, I have heat embossed the Ganesh image with clear embossing powder before using the gold foil.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nAfter many trials, I found that I must ensure that the clear embossing powder is even and not splotchy. Only then does it get covered evenly with the foil, when put through the laminator.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nThere has been a lot of discussion about the way to apply the foil. I have achieved best results by putting the laser printed image or heat embossed image through a laminator, along with the foil.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/ganesh-shakerhndmd.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1152\" data-original-width=\"864\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/ganesh-shakerhndmd.jpg\" width=\"300\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<p><a name='more'><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI created another Shaker tag using playing card die cuts as shaker elements. For the background, I heat embossed and foiled the fireworks and Diwali sentiment&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nfrom Craftangles Happy diwali stamp set.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/playing-card-shaker.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1152\" data-original-width=\"864\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/playing-card-shaker.jpg\" width=\"300\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nFor this card, I die cut the sentiment from a sheet of black toner paper&#8230;which is nothing more than a sheet of black that I printed out on my laser printer.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI then used the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/foils\/copper-reactive-foils-transfer-sheets-by-craftangles-ctrf08\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Craftangles copper foil<\/a> which covered this die cut so beautifully.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI diecut the same sentiment from a background panel and then dry embossed the panel with paisleys.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nFinally I inlaid the diecut to complete the &nbsp;simple card.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI finished it off by adding a few <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/embellishments\/sequins?bfilter=m0:149;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Craftangles clear sequins.<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/copper-shubhdipavali.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1152\" data-original-width=\"864\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/copper-shubhdipavali.jpg\" width=\"300\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nThis card below, is by far my favourite!<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI die cut this beautiful diya from toner paper and then used the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/foils\/rainbow-reactive-foils-transfer-sheets-by-craftangles-ctrf09\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Craftangles rainbow foil<\/a> to cover it.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nOnce done, I diecut a piece of white fun foam with the same die and used it to pop up the diya on the dry embossed background.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/rainbow-diya-hndmd.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1152\" data-original-width=\"864\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/rainbow-diya-hndmd.jpg\" width=\"300\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nHere, I used the negative piece of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/foils\/rainbow-reactive-foils-transfer-sheets-by-craftangles-ctrf09\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rainbow foil<\/a> that I used above to create another diya.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nFor this diya, I first clear heat embossed a piece of paper and then run it with the negative foil piece &nbsp;through the laminator.
