Today I am sharing a step by step tutorial of creating a circular mixed media project with lots of embellishments on current month\u2019s challenge i.e. \u2018Masculine\u2019. How we actually interpret the word \u2018Masculine\u2019? I think majority of us will straight away visualize it like a symbol of strength, ruggedness, robust, macho etc. But I felt rather deeper in thought. My creation symbolizes and relates this word \u2018Masculine\u2019 with a man\u2019s character as a whole. A man who as a child is soft and sweet like any child, as a teenager can be a symbol of freedom and joy, as an adult can be a husband with strong shoulders of responsibilities, as a father can be a hero to his offspring, as a human being who respects others without any chauvinism to say the least. That\u2019s how I interpret a true man who defines masculinity. My mixed media project shows a man and a boy who are at two different ends of their life and the wear and tear they face are hidden on the background of their life and of course the elements symbolize the unsung struggles a true \u2018Masculine\u2019 overcomes to become a common \u2018Good Man\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"here-is-the-details-step-by-step-tutorial-on-the-same-please-have-a-look\"><\/span>Here is the details step by step tutorial on the same. Please have a look:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">STEP 1. I primed the canvas with white gesso and applied paper texture paste with barcode stencil. To give it a more interesting look, I used white crackle paste on few portions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/p1-768x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57365\" width=\"584\" height=\"584\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/p1-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/p1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/p1.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">STEP 2. I created this mixed media project with only patina and rust effect texture paste set. I did not use any paint. There are four shades in each set. To get exact effect you need to apply subsequent layers when previous layer totally dried up. On the mid-section, I used patina effect texture paste and on upper and lower section, I used rust effect texture paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/p2-768x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57366\" width=\"584\" height=\"590\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">STEP 3: When all the layers dried, I applied clear stamp with archival ink and sprinkled few acrylic paints to create more interesting background. I distressed the edges with distress ink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/p3-768x751.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57367\" width=\"595\" height=\"588\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">STEP 4: I primed clay embellishments with charcoal gesso and then applied patina effect paste on them and highlighted with copper penny wax. After that I embossed all chipboards in copper shade and distressed fussy cuts with distress ink.
