{"id":587,"date":"2016-10-12T18:30:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/articles\/diwali-cards-for-indian-soldiers\/"},"modified":"2020-08-26T12:22:24","modified_gmt":"2020-08-26T06:52:24","slug":"diwali-cards-for-indian-soldiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/diwali-cards-for-indian-soldiers\/","title":{"rendered":"Diwali cards for Indian soldiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nHello!<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nFor my DT post for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CraftAdda<\/a> today, I am using the fabulous Diwali stamp sets from Craftangles.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI was encouraged by my dear friend Neha Gala &nbsp;who is collecting cards to send to our brave soldiers who could not go home for Diwali.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI was pushed out of my comfort zone, but, I am really thrilled with the cards I made.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/diwali-cards-for-a-cause.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"397\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/diwali-cards-for-a-cause.jpg\" width=\"400\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<p><a name='more'><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nFor this card, I started by creating a background using the large diya in the&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/stamps\/craftangles-photopolymer-stamps-happy-diwali-ctps9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Happy Diwali stamp set from Craftangles.<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI heat embossed the background with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/embossing-powders\/craftangles-embossing-powder-clear17-oz50-ml-ctep01?recommended_by=popular\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Craftangles clear embossing powder<\/a>. I then blended the background using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/inks?mfp=manufacturers[14],stock_status[7]\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Memento &nbsp;Cottage Ivy and Memento Tangelo inks<\/a>. Once blended, I flicked some water onto the background and lifted off some colour.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI then placed a scrap sheet of paper over the panel and ironed off the embossing powder.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/embossing-powders\/craftangles-embossing-powder-gold-17-oz50-ml-ctep03?recommended_by=popular\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gold embossed<\/a> the sentiment on a strip of vellum and attached it to the card panel. I used three star shaped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/embellishments\/buttons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">buttons <\/a>in the tricolours as an embellishment.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI finished the card panel by placing it on a kraft card base.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/diya-background.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/diya-background.jpg\" width=\"300\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nFor this card, I started with stamping the fireworks stamp in the Indian tricolour on a piece of white cardstock cut with Simon Says Stamp&#8217;s stitched rectangle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/dies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">die<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI added a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/embossing-powders\/craftangles-embossing-powder-gold-17-oz50-ml-ctep03?recommended_by=popular\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gold embossed<\/a> sentiment on a vellum panel and added a watercolured diya. I finished the card by placing the card panel on a kraft card base.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/tricolour-fireworks.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"306\" src=\"https:\/\/www.craftadda.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/tricolour-fireworks.jpg\" width=\"400\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nFor this card, I started by using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/stencils?mfp=manufacturers[5],stock_status[7]\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TimHoltz sun rays stencil <\/a>and colouring in with Memento Cottage Ivy and Tangelo inks.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\nI then added a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hndmd.com\/craft-supplies\/embossing-powders\/craftangles-embossing-powder-gold-17-oz50-ml-ctep03?recommended_by=popular\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gold embossed<\/a> sentiment on vellum and a watercoloured diya.
